Information for patients attending for flu jab
This information is to prepare you for your appointment for a flu vaccination and to tell you what to do and what to expect on the day. For patients who have had a flu vaccination before, please be aware we are working in very different ways so please take the time to read and fully understand the new ways we are now working to ensure that we all remain safe.
Plan to come on your own unless you need a carer or someone else to help you.
Do not attend before your appointment time- we are strictly managing the numbers on site at any time and we will ask you to leave if you arrive too early.
Do not attend if you have any of the following symptoms of covid-19 which are:
- A new continuous cough
- Loss of smell and taste.
Do not attend if you are taking antibiotics. We cannot vaccinate you and will have to make other arrangements.
You can still attend and receive a flu vaccination if you have cold like symptoms eg runny nose, without any of the covid symptoms.
You will need to bring a face covering with you.
Wear clothing that allows easy access to the top of your arm, for example as few layers as possible and a loose short sleeved top.
You will not be able to use the toilet in the practice unless it is essential and you cannot wait until you get home.
How we will be running on the day
We have reorganised our services to ensure that we are covid safe.
This means all flu vaccinations will be given at an appointed time and we will be strictly managing access to the building and through the building.
This will be a walk through service, unless you have mobility problems and need to sit.
Social distancing will be required.
On arrival please report to the staff member located in the entrance way at your appointment time. We will take your temperature and check again that you do not have any covid symptoms.
We will not be able to deal with any other issues at this appointment - we hope you appreciate that our timings are very strict to ensure we remain covid safe.
It is important that you play your part to visit us safely and we hope this information is helpful.
