Philosophy and Development

We believe strongly in continuity of care and aim to provide the highest standards of personalised general medical care complemented by a comprehensive, but continually evolving, program of health promotion and preventive care services.

Our Practice Nursing Team has enthusiastically embraced the expanding role of primary care nursing. In addition to Treatment room services, Chronic Disease and Health Promotion Clinics they are extending their traditional role to include Urgent Care Clinics, nurse prescribing, initiating insulin in uncontrolled diabetics and Contraceptive services which include coil fitting.

In addition to the District Nurses the community nursing team includes a Community Matron and a Community Nurse for Older People (CNOP) helping older people achieve as full a life as possible in their preferred surroundings.

We are innovatory in employing a Practice Pharmacist to run review clinics for a number of medical conditions including chronic kidney disease, uncontrolled hypertension and epilepsy.  She reviews medication on patients with complex multiple conditions, patients recently discharged from hospital and patients in nursing homes or unable to get to the surgery.  She has a key role in auditing and co-ordinating repeat prescribing.

The partners recognise that complementary therapy can have a useful role.
