Staff Development and Training

Air Balloon Surgery places a high value on personal development within the practice. All staff are encouraged to undertake further training according to their personal and professional development needs and to the strategic objectives of the practice, and are offered paid study leave to help fulfil their training and development needs.  Regular meetings are held across all teams, including an annual programme of clinical education meetings incorporating case studies, Significant Event Audits, and invited speakers, etc.

Partners are encouraged to take a sabbatical of up to six months every seven years, and several partners have used Department of Health funding for extended study leave. Peter Goyder spent his sabbatical working with the PCT on service development particularly at the interface of primary and secondary care.

Staff also benefit from a comprehensive programme of training and development courses run or organised by Bristol PCT, as well as events run by outside agencies and in-house training sessions.
